If you would like some homemade rocket plans I have the perfect website for you.  Go to "www.nakka-rocketry.net/index.html"  It has a vast resorce for homemade/experimental rockets.  I my self have assumed a library of information from this site and have had a few succesful rocket motor launches.  I am currently building a rocket to launch.  Now mind you, with this website make sure you read all info before going head first into your endevore, specificly the safety info, and allways use common sence.

I have experimented and a good fuel for a home made rocket is metholated spyrits and a little bit of ordinary spray deoderant. Its very powerful i launched a soft drink bottle 100m in the air. And that was just a little one.

You could consider using black powder, it has an oxidizer built in.  there will be no need of having any oxygen or fuel in you rocket.

I just read one also that was a simple balloon taped to a drinking straw and you attach a string to the ceiling and the balloon "rocket" will follow the trajectory of the string.
